FAQs
An underwater drone, legally known as a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), is a compact, highly maneuverable vehicle equipped with specialized high-definition cameras. We deploy the drone directly from a dock, shoreline, or vessel, and our operator controls its path completely from the surface. As it navigates, it streams live video back to a monitor, allowing us to capture pristine photos and video files of your underwater assets for reporting.
It is substantially safer because it keeps human personnel completely out of the water. By remaining on the surface, we eliminate exposure to typical underwater diving hazards, strong currents, or confined spaces. Additionally, an ROV is incredibly efficient, it can be deployed almost instantly without heavy equipment setups, providing real-time visual tracking at a fraction of the cost of a commercial dive team.
No, you don’t need to be there. As long as our team has clear site access and the necessary project details ahead of time, we can complete the entire sweep independently. Once we wrap up, we will electronically deliver your full report, digital photos, and video links. Of course, if you want to be present to watch the live video feed or discuss findings with our operator in real time, you are always welcome.
It depends on what we are looking at, but most residential projects, like a standard dock, seawall, or boat hull survey, take between 1 and 3 hours to thoroughly complete. Individual vessel hull scans typically average 30 to 90 minutes. Large commercial facility audits, complex marina structures, or wide-area search and recovery grids can take anywhere from several hours to multiple days.
You will receive a complete digital documentation package, typically delivered within 24 to 72 hours. This includes a polished PDF inspection report containing a detailed summary of observed conditions, an organized folder of high-resolution digital photographs highlighting specific areas of concern, and a secure download link to your full high-definition video logs.
Yes, absolutely. We routinely provide professional visual documentation that captures clear, time-stamped proof of damage or pre-loss conditions for docks, seawalls, and vessel hulls. While our high-definition files serve as excellent objective evidence for insurance adjusters and contractors, please remember that final claim approvals and coverage decisions rest entirely with your insurance carrier.
We make post-storm and post-hurricane assessments a priority to help our coastal communities recover quickly. We can often provide expedited scheduling and deliver preliminary findings on the exact same day, with full reports following within 24 to 48 hours. Our ability to deploy is purely dependent on whether local water conditions, visibility, and site access are safe enough for our equipment to operate.
Our high-resolution cameras can spot a wide array of hidden issues before they turn into costly disasters. For boat hulls, we look for impact damage, cracks, running gear alignment issues, or fouled propellers. For docks and seawalls, we easily identify wood-boring organism damage, concrete splits, corroded hardware, severe marine growth, panel gaps, and critical toe erosion or underwater washouts.
While we perform search and recovery operations on a best-effort basis, we cannot guarantee a 100% recovery rate. Our advanced ROV technology gives us a massive advantage in mapping the bottom and locating items safely. However, success heavily relies on environmental factors like water visibility, how quickly we are called out, local current speeds, and whether the item has been buried deep under shifting silt or bottom sediment.
